The attention to the small details is what makes the difference. The entire place is spotlessly clean, modern and yet retains the old world chalet charm. Our room was on the north side, facing the road, and honestly there was very little noise despite what other reviewers have said. I would have no hesitation booking the same room again. We took the comfort double, which had a separate space for our six year old, with a giant sofa bed which was really comfortable. The room was large and very comfortable with a balcony. The restaurant was an extremely pleasant surprise. Most hotel restaurants are sad dull places with mediocre food. This place was fabulous. It is bright, with large windows and a great view of the Eiger. There is also a large terrace with plenty of space. The food was delicious and of a much better standard than we could have expected. The food is clearly home made. It tastes fresh and vibrant. The Alpentapas were delicious as was the gazpacho. The pork belly was amazing, with roasted root vegetables. The gnocchi were also full of flavour, and yet also subtle. Even the children’s meals are of a very high standard. The pasta was delicious and served with herbs from the hotel’s own garden. The chef clearly has respect for the quality of everything served in the restaurant. I did have one regret, that I didn’t take the tomahawk steak, which looked and smelled amazing. I am genuinely happy for the owners, because they have clearly invested their heart and soul into the place. They have made the right decisions with their rebuild of the hotel and their effort and hard work has paid off. The good atmosphere with all the staff members is also clear to see. They obviously enjoy working there. The hotel and restaurant may be a little on the expensive end of the scale, but you definitely get good value for money. This place deserves to be full every night. We will be back. What more can I say?
